Taking a Tooth Shade

Take a tooth shade for each new patient as part of your diagnostic. Simply tell the patient that you want to get a baseline reading. Give the patient the tooth shade guide and a mirror and have the patient guess their shade. Ask if the patient has ever considered brightening or whitening his/her smile. If yes, show the patient the possible new color. This gets you into a cosmetic conversation easily.
