Amy's Fireside Chats

These chats are addressed to Pride's current alumni dentists. For a limited time, however, Amy is also offering them to any dentists who may be thinking of joining our Pride community.

Amy introduces the new fireside chat series and discusses basic leadership principles and the book The Leadership Challenge by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner.
In Amy’s second fireside chat, she focuses on the beginning of the New Year and the need for each Dr to conquer change resistance in order to support continuous improvement in 2007. Based on the book Leading Change by John Kotter, you and your team can learn about 8 basic errors or why organizations fail to change and how it applies to your dental practice. If you have set new goals, be prepared for resistance: yours, your staff and patients.

It’s that time of year when salary reviews are complete and growth conferences should be scheduled with your team…right? Despite best efforts, I believe that very often growth conferences sound better on paper then when conducted in ”real life”  Do you agree? You are not alone. In Amy’s new fireside chat she explores the most common and dangerous mistakes that are made in a growth conference and more important, how to avoid them. If you want your team to be self-directed, inspired and motivated to continuously improve then it’s time to take the most important formal feedback opportunity up a notch. Enjoy.

Survey says… The latest Ken Blanchard survey points out the top leadership mistakes that are made world wide in all manner of businesses. Guess what? They are exactly the same mistakes that dentists as leaders make! Our goal is to learn from history and not have to continue to repeat it. This latest fire side chat , reviews the survey responses and more importantly, what to do differently to get better results. Each of you will recognize your errors (I recognized mine).

In times of economic upheaval, it's easy for a dentist (feeling a scarcity) to push the panic button and make the wrong moves. Are economic factors a reality that must be addressed in your practice? What can a pro-active dentist and team DO to detect and prevent a down turn? Should you be worried? All of these are valid questions that Amy takes up in her next fireside chat. What keeps a dentist flourishing and prospering in any economic climate can be implemented in your office, now. At the end of this "chat" you and your team will feel "armed and dangerous" ready to meet whatever challenges the economy poses to your success.

Our founder, Dr. James Pride, had a tradition of giving fireside chats to those dentists who were taking advanced study with him, whom he called his "alumni group." In these chats, he explained the principles of leadership and entrepreneurial management that greatly improved the practices and the lives of his listeners.

Now Pride's CEO Amy Morgan continues this tradition with fireside chats to explain the timeless lessons of leadership that will allow you to reduce stress, inspire your teams, and achieve your most valued professional goals. Hear the audio recordings of Amy's fireside chats and learn how to create the practice of your dreams.
